Bare Bones:
Take the original Star Wars trilogy, add some magic comedy yeast, and voila!
Running Time 1 hour 36 min.
Overall Thoughts:
The only way to sum up Spaceballs is to say "classic Mel Brooks". Brooks is one of the greatest creators of comedy in entertainment history, and Spaceballs shows off his immense skill of parody. Any human who has seen a science-fiction show or movie will laugh hysterically at Brooks making fun of the genre, and fans of the Star Wars movie series will appreciate the constant jabs at the Star Wars characters.
What Makes This Movie Special:
When Mel Brooks starts stirring the pot, you know it's going to be special: Goofy sight-gags, silly word-play, hyperbolic character portrayals, and a pointed yet playful satire. Cooked up by a master comedy chef!
Beware Of:
The canine community is able to laugh at ourselves, so although the dawg jokes run rampant in Spaceballs, we can appreciate when humans make fun of our floppy ears. And none of my friends are offended by John Candy performing in dawg-face.
Line of the Movie: "Funny, you don't look Druish."
For Dawg Eyes Only: I have no desire to go to space myself, but where humans go, canines will follow. May the Dawgs Be With You!
