Overall Thoughts:

The Serpent is based on actual events surrounding the deceptions and crimes of Charles Sobrahj in Asia in the 1970's, which makes it an even more absorbing series to watch. Stories like this are magnetic, because we are captured by the suspenseful story and amazed how someone can use and abuse people in such a routine manner.

What Makes This Show Special:

Using constant time-jumps, The Serpent allows us to gradually discover the horrible actions of Sobrahj, while we observe how the Dutch diplomat, Knippenberg, conducted his investigation and learned about these victims.

Beware Of:

Key plot points are presented subtly and many of the roles are portrayed in a low-key manner, so throughout the series we often wonder about the intentions of each character.

For Dawg Eyes Only:

A pretty, fluffy dog plays a minor role, next to an awful human being who treats other humans much worse than any animal.
